Although they have stopped promotions, their busy daily schedules of going out early in the morning and coming home late at night still doesn’t change. MYNAME showed energetic performances through ‘Message’, so we asked MYNAME for a spoiler of their new album’s concept that they are preparing now.

“The mood this time will be a little heavier than it was previously. We plan to make our comeback at the end of March or in April. We were a little disappointed with the previous album because we couldn’t show everything we could do besides singing and dancing… Since we’ve got the feel of it, we are preparing to show a cooler image in the future.” (Insoo)

Despite being busy preparing for their comeback, the members are going for Japanese lessons and are preparing to make their official debut in Japan after the upcoming album. With the vice-president of Oricon personally visiting Korea to watch their debut performances and garnering a lot of attention from ‘Oricon Style’, MYNAME have risen as this generation’s K-pop star. How do they feel about gaining attention as a new Hallyu star?

“When we hear those stories, I feel like we’re still lacking. We are just so thankful to be given that title. No matter how you look at it, we feel a little pressured. That’s why we are going through tougher practices.” (Insoo)

While starting work on their new album, MYNAME are feeling the huge pressure of showing a different image from ‘Message’ and showing a more developed image. We asked them what their goals for 2012 are.

“Let more people know about us, and get closer to them. I want to become better and win a rookie award.” (Gunwoo)

“I want to get #1 on music programs. No, we will do it!(Laughs)” (Seyong)

“I hope everyone knows about us. I want our music to be playing everywhere we go.” (Chaejin)

✔Do you have a role model besides producer Hwanhee?
Usher(Insoo) Chris Brown(Seyong) Dynamic Duo and Jay-Z(JunQ) Naul(Gunwoo) Justin Bieber(Chaejin)

✔If given the chance, what areas do you want to attempt?
I have interest in acting. I’m an acting major in high school. But I still couldn’t take proper lessons, so I want to learn and try acting.(Chaejin)

I’m still not interested in other areas and I want to devote myself to music. Because I like music.(Gunwoo)

Acting is good, but I still want to do more music. Of course I’d like to try out acting later.(JunQ)

I was originally acting. I appeared in scenes here and there and had a lot of interest in it. My major in college now is also Theatre and Films. But for now, MYNAME comes first.(Seyong)

I was a dance major, so I really want to try acting in a musical.(Insoo)

✔JunQ graduated from high school not long ago. What’s the thing you want to do the most now that you’re 20 years old?
I want to get my driving license the most.

Since the members are all in your 20s, what does maknae Chaejin envy the most about them?
The hyungs are all in their 20s so they are more matured, and there are not many things we can do together anymore. So I want to quickly become 20 years old. (All the members: We should be the ones jealous of him instead. We want to be in our teens.)

✔Maknae Chaejin and Insoo’s age gap is 7 years. Do you feel the generation gap?
Of course we do. He doesn’t even know Seo Taiji sunbaenim and H.O.T. sunbaenim.(Seyong)

TVXQ sunbaenim!

Going back to the main point, when does Chaejin feel the generation gap?
The words we use as we go through our daily lives. I feel it when they use old slangs.(Chaejin) That’s not it. We don’t know the new words or short forms.(Insoo) (At this, we asked what the short form ‘BuKaChung’(bus card top-up) is. The members in their 20′s were ‘very’ (T/N: They used an old word for very) surprised and Chaejin replied with other short forms they’ve never heard before.)

✔ Can you reveal MYNAME members’ funny habits?
Gunwoo hyung snores a lot. Like an earthquake… I’m not kidding. I really thought there was an earthquake(Chaejin) JunQ uses the computer before sleeping, and falls asleep like that. Almost everyday, he sleeps on the keyboard with the computer on and his hand on the mouse.(Gunwoo)

So, do you wake him up and get him into bed?
No. We just leave him like that. Because he needs to be respected. So we respect him like that. (Laughs) Seyong hyung sleeps with one thumb in his mouth, and the other hand touching his earlobe at the same time. What’s more interesting is that his hands are twisted.(JunQ) Insoo hyung sleeps as though he is lifting his arms while lying down. His defined hand line is the most important. Also, there were a lot of times when he suddenly wakes up and shouts “Why!”(Seyong)

Our dorm is like Everland (T/N: A popular theme park in Korea). When you enter, there are game consoles around, and our clothes room is our meeting room. The clothes are spread on the floor and act as the chairs. But we also take good care of our shoes with our lives. Another thing is that when we go to sleep and wake up, wash up, all the way till we leave the house, we don’t speak to one another at all. It’s so tiring, so we don’t even talk and and we know what’s going on through the looks in our eyes alone. The moment we go out after putting on clothes, we start asking “Oh what are we doing today?”

✔If a genie were to appear and grant you a wish, what would that be?
I wish he could take away all our worries. We also want to get #1. I think we will be very happy. That’s happiness for all 5 members, and I will be very happy.(Insoo)

I want to ask for 100 billion won. Haha.(Seyong) I wish for a medicine that prevents us from being tired no matter how much we practice. Then, we can have more fun practicing, and naturally our skills will improve.(Chaejin)

Nothing more or less, I want all the people I know to become happier, and for none of them to be hurt. I also hope that I won’t fall sick. I wish that nobody falls sick. I think being healthy should be a priority.(Gunwoo)
